I grew up outside Detroit, where I spent much of my time at swim practices (shout out to the Birmingham Blue Dolphins), nurturing dreams of becoming an Olympic backstroker.  That did not happen.

Luckily, I discovered a new favorite hobby (writing, if you couldn’t guess) in college.  On a desperate quest for spending money, I landed a job as a reporter for The Stanford Daily, which provided far and away the most fun I’d ever had working at minimum wage levels.  I knew I was on to something.  Throughout law school at the University of Michigan, and a few years practicing law in the nation’s capital, I dreamed of writing something a little spicier than a legal brief---something like the crime novels I’d grown up reading at the Baldwin Public Library.

And then, one day, I decided to actually give it a try.  I’m thrilled that Viking has published the result, my debut mystery The Morgue And Me.
